Instruments for Interest

Why go anywhere else?

In orchestras and bands, there are different sections - the brass, woodwind, percussion and strings sections. The brass section can consist of trumpets, trombones, french horns and tubas. Percussion can consist of drums, cymbols, timphani, xylophone and the piano. Woodwinds include flutes, different saxophones, B♭ or bass clarinets, oboes, piccolos and bassoons. All these sections are crucial in bands but the one were interested in is the strings section.

The strings section is one of the most prominent sections of a band. It consists of bowed instruments including violins, violas, cellos and double basses. Strings sections can range from 12 to 21 people typically in orchestras and bands, with violins being the most dominant instrument in the section. Which is why the violin is my favourite instrument! Want to learn more about the violin, have a look here.
