Cellos, while not the biggest instrument is one of the lowest with octave two's C note as one of its lower notes its able to reach. Much like violins the cello rose up in the 16th century. For those history nuts out there, the cello was considered to evolve from the viola da gamba. But actually it existed alongside it for two and a half centuries. Cellos have been modernly used in orchestras, bands and other combinations of instruments. They are a crucial part of a strings section as they hold the beat through their low notes which can either be following the melody or harmony. However, they can also be used for many solo performances and in strings and cello quartets.
It has around 14 parts:
- A scroll
- Four pegs
- A nut
- A fingerboard
- Four strings
- A bridge
- A tallpiece
- An end pin
